Happiness is a family matter.
In fact, talented writer Erma Bombeck wrote a book years ago titled Family—The Ties That Bind and Gag! that found a humorous way to deal with the frustrations of parenting and other intergenerational family relationships. Her conclusion: you can’t live with them, you can’t live without them…or can you…?
Our alternate conclusion: Why can’t you all live a better life…without the stress? That’s why the Power of Two Counseling is here. Our family ties are part of our development as a person and having healthy bonds increases our happiness. Often, humor is the best way to cope with our families but sometimes we need outside help.
We work with each one of you, together or separately.
Whether you’re dealing with parenting issues, problem children, difficult in-law situations, aging parents or anything that is shaking your family tree, counseling can help you get back on course. You don’t have to go it alone.
Family counseling may help family members to promote better relationships and understanding. It may be triggered by a specific incident, as for example during a divorce, or the approaching death of an aging or ill parent. Alternately, it may address the needs of the family when one family member suffers from a mental or physical illness that alters his or her behavior or habits in negative ways.
FAMILY COUNSELING IS DESIGNED TO MEET YOUR SITUATION.
Part of our goal as therapists is to observe interactions between family members. Another part is to observe the perception of non-interacting family members. In addition to observation, we often help the family uncover better ways of communicating with each other. In fact, it often teaches family members new and more positive ways to communicate to replace old, negative communication patterns.
We work with individuals, families and children from age 6 years old and up. The goal of therapy is always for you to feel better and to learn new tools to help you cope with whatever life brings.
At The Marriage Place, we work to increase your satisfaction with each and every one of the important relationships in your life.
